SILVA RULED OUT OF IRELAND CLASH

In-form Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has been ruled out of theQatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Republic of Ireland and Portugal on Thursday night.Portugal revealed earlier on Wednesday that Silva will miss the Ireland game after missing training due to injury.

Silva missed Portugal training with muscle complaints and has been ruled out of the important game against the Irish team. Portugal can move closer to securing a place at the World Cup with a win over the Republic of Ireland in Group A of the European section.

Manchester City star Silva didn’t train with his Portugal teammates on Monday due to muscle injury and he missed Portugal training once again on Tuesdaythereby ruling him out of the game against Ireland as confirmed by manager Fernando Santos in his pre-match presser on Wednesday. The Portugal boss is optimistic that Silva would be able to face Serbia at the start of next week.

Fernando Santos stated that Silva was tired when he joined his international colleagues in camp due to his efforts for Manchester City in the opening months of the season. The Portugal senior national team manager told reporters that Silva won’t travel with the team for the Ireland game.

Silva has been one of the best players in the Premier League after his impressive start to the season. He has been the standout player for Manchester City who are three points adrift of leaders Chelsea on the league table. Silva has three goals and one assist in 15 Manchester City games in all competitions this season.

Portugal international Silva scored his third goal of the season for Manchester City during the Manchester Derby clash with the Red Devils on Saturday. He scored the second goal in the first half to seal a 2-0 away win over Manchester United.
